Get involved

Volunteer at ICPA events.

You are already going to the conference. Take a shift at the registration desk or monitor a session, and the same trip also puts you alongside the organizers, the speakers and dozens of new contacts.

A look behind the curtain at an ICPA conference.

You know how much work goes into making a conference run smoothly. This is a low-commitment way to see it from the inside. Assist for an hour or two, meet the core organizers, and understand what it takes to produce a successful event.

It is a perspective you cannot get anywhere else, and a strong line to add to your resume.

Meet people. Make friends. Expand your network.

Not sure how to get started networking?

Working the registration desk or monitoring a session gives you a natural reason to speak with dozens of people (attendees, speakers and organizers) in a way a standard attendee never gets. Low effort, high-value connections.

Volunteer tasks.

Two kinds of help. Most people do the first and never touch the second.

At conferences

  • Answering attendee questions
  • Helping sponsors
  • Answering speaker questions
  • Introducing speakers
  • Acting as virtual host
  • Setting up registration

Before conferences

  • 30 minutes to 1 hour per month to organize
  • Support email inquiries and follow-up

Pre-conference help is remote and asynchronous: a short monthly check-in and a hand with email inquiries.

A small commitment that makes a real difference.

Give it back

Where better to start than the community you work in? An hour or two makes the conference a better experience for everyone in the room.

Build your resume

Add a leadership and community-involvement line that shows initiative beyond attendance. For some roles it can count toward professional development or certification credit.

Meet the organizers

Speakers, sponsors and the core team all pass the registration desk. You end the day known by the people who run the program.

Thinking of volunteering at the next event?

Tell us which event you are attending and how you would like to help. The events team confirms your shift by email before the conference.

No shift is assigned until you have said yes to it in writing. Signing up starts a conversation, not a commitment.
