Membership

Three thousand people who do your job.

The International Compliance Professionals Association (ICPA) was established in 2002 to serve import and export compliance professionals. Eight things come with membership no matter what you pay. Your level sets the price, how many of your colleagues are covered, and, for service provider firms, how much visibility your company receives.

  • Since 2002
  • 3,000+ members worldwide
  • 8 levels, from $50 a year

What every level gets

This is the whole of membership. A twenty-five dollar student and a three thousand dollar Global Partner get all eight of these in exactly the same measure.

The daily questions and answers

The feature members name first. Put a question to more than three thousand compliance professionals anonymously: we send it out with your name off it, and compile the answers that come back. Questions go out each morning and the compiled answers each afternoon.

Ask the ICPA Community ›

The answer archive

Every answer the membership has ever sent back is kept and indexed, so the question you are about to ask has usually been asked before. Search it first and you will often have your answer the same morning.

Conferences

ICPA holds several conferences a year worldwide, including in the US, Canada, Europe and Asia. Members get discounted rates and early registration for the Annual March Conference, plus webinars run by members and agencies through the year.

Job and resume postings

Every Tuesday evening we send members the current openings and the resumes members have posted, and they go up on the jobs board at the same time. Both sides of that board are members only.

Announcements

Every Tuesday afternoon and Friday morning we pass on what other members have submitted: seminars, training programs, webinars and newsletters. They are posted on the site at the same time, so nothing is lost in an inbox.

Regional Trade Communities

Nineteen local networking groups across North America where global trade professionals meet other people in the field near them. Longstanding members will know these as DATA Groups.

Surveys

Members are encouraged to survey the membership, and we will gladly circulate it for you. The only thing we ask in return is that you share the results back with the people who answered.

Scholarships

ICPA offers scholarships twice a year, open to members and to members’ dependents. They are paid for out of the association’s philanthropy program, which members also nominate causes for.

Which of these describes your work?

Who employs you decides which group you belong to, and the group decides which levels you can join. Pick yours and the dues, the seats and the extras fill in below.

Importer and exporter levels

Dues are annual. Every level includes all eight benefits above.

ICPA membership levels: dues, number of memberships included, what each level adds, and how to join it.
Level Dues Memberships What this level adds Join
New Member ‘1st Year Only’ Special First year free if you have not been an active member for at least 2 years and you work for an importer or exporter. Not eligible: Employees of service providers, meaning customs brokers, freight forwarders, law firms, consultants and the like, are not eligible. $0first year 1person Nothing extra Start free year
Individual Current or previous employment as a compliance professional by a business or corporation engaged in international trade as an importer or exporter. Not eligible: Employees of service providers, meaning customs brokers, freight forwarders, law firms, consultants and the like, are not eligible. $125per year 1person Nothing extra Join at this level
Military Veteran Individuals who have served in the military. Not eligible: Employees of service providers are not eligible for this level. $50per year 1person Nothing extra Join at this level
Senior or Retired Individuals 65 or older, or who have retired, who want to keep up with the world of international trade. Not eligible: Current service providers are not eligible for this level. $50per year 1person Nothing extra Join at this level

These levels add nothing to the eight benefits above, and nothing is held back from them either. Each one is the full membership at a reduced rate, not a reduced membership.

The 1st Year Only Special is open to individual members only. If you work for a broker, law firm, freight forwarder, trade software company or consultancy you are not eligible for the free rate. Use the service provider levels instead.

Renewing rather than joining? Renewal is a separate form and it does not ask you to sign in, so use the renewal form rather than the login page. Once a membership has expired you will not be able to log in.

Associate Business or Global Partner

Both are company levels for service providers. Global Partner is the same membership with two more seats and standing at the conferences.

Still not sure which level you qualify for?

Eligibility starts with who employs you, and it is confirmed on the form, so if you are between two levels pick the closer one and we will sort it out with you. The membership FAQ covers the common cases.
