What licensed brokers need, and where to earn it.
The continuing education requirement for licensed customs brokers: how many credits you need, where to earn them, and how to get your ICPA transcript.
36 hours per triennial period, pro-rated to 20 for 2027.
CBP requires 36 hours of continuing education per three-year (triennial) period for each individual licensed customs broker, under Final Rule 88 FR 41224.
For the current period CBP pro-rated the requirement. Credit began counting on 1 January 2025, and you need 20 credits for your 2027 Triennial Status Report. CBP’s page asks brokers to complete the 20 hours by 31 January 2027.
CBP’s rules are the final word. See CBP’s continuing education page.
