What accreditation costs, and how the filing works.
ICPA accredits webinars, conferences, self-guided courses and internal company training. Everything is filed through the accreditation portal, and most decisions return within one to two business days.
Almost anything you already teach.
Educational activities may be delivered internally within your company, during a webinar you host or record for later viewing, or at seminars and conferences you coordinate or speak at, in person or virtually.
If you are a licensed customs broker who prepares the educational material, you can also claim CE credit as the speaker or presenter of that material, up to a maximum of one credit.
Submitting several courses at once? Email CETeam@icpainc.org to arrange a bulk submission.
Not sure the activity meets CBP’s criteria? The four tests every submission is measured against are set out on the CE requirement page.
| CE activity | Cost |
|---|---|
| Speaker preparation1 CE credit maximum | $25 |
| Webinar & recorded sessionSingle session | $50 |
| Seminars & conferencesMultiple sessions | $100 |
| Self-guided courses & tutorials | $100 |
| Declined activities are never charged. Approved activities are invoiced separately, payable by check or credit card. | |
Four steps, start to approval.
-
Create a login
An automated sign-up that takes a couple of minutes. Your account holds every submission you make to ICPA.
-
Complete the application
The portal collects everything CBP requires accreditors to review before approving an activity.
-
Receive your reference number
An automated acknowledgement confirms receipt. Any follow-up questions from ICPA are handled in the portal.
-
Get a decision
Approvals arrive by email within one to two business days, with a detailed reason given for any declination.
Five things arrive in the confirmation email
-
Number of approved credit hours
This may differ from the hours you submitted. ICPA calculates it in line with CBP guidelines.
-
A unique accreditation code
Provide it to everyone who participates in the activity.
-
The approved CBP logo
It must appear on the activity to show it has been accredited. Usage guidelines come with it.
-
An effective period
Each activity is approved for one year and must be recertified annually so the material stays current.
-
An invoice
Sent separately, payable by check or credit card.
You receive an email with a detailed reason. If you believe the activity was declined in error, you can resubmit it, and there is no charge for a declined activity. Where ICPA needs more information before deciding, that exchange happens in the portal.
