Event Overview

The U.S. and EU member states make up less than half of the countries with established (or developing) export control systems around the globe. The remaining countries have been building, streamlining, or strengthening their systems to keep pace with contemporary proliferation challenges and business trends. The result is a complex web of global export control rules that U.S.-based companies are almost certain to encounter at some point. This webinar will provide an overview and update on the “world” of export controls beyond the U.S. and EU member states. The first part of the webinar will highlight current global trends in control lists, technology transfer controls, end-use(r) controls, and recent developments, as well as the export control regimes of major trading and emerging economies. The second part of the webinar will feature a “case study” on how a U.S.-based multinational company manages its global trade compliance in countries beyond the European Union and the United States. In so doing, this webinar will help U.S. trade compliance practitioners better understand when the wider world of export controls impacts them and how to respond.

Jay P. Nash– Nash Global Trade Services

Jay Nash is the Founder and Principal of Nash Global Trade Services, a consulting firm specializing in U.S. and non-U.S. export compliance. Jay’s firm handles trade controls and compliance for countries in Asia Pacific, Central Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe. Jay works with businesses in various sectors to traverse and operationalize applicable regulations, including the EAR and ITAR, as well as non-U.S. export controls.

Kevin Cuddy– IBM

Kevin Cuddy is a Government and Regulatory Affairs Executive in IBM’s Export Regulation Office in Washington, D.C. He assists the various IBM business units with their export control and economic sanctions compliance. Prior to joining IBM, Kevin was a Senior Manager for International Trade Compliance with General Electric Company in Washington, D.C. During his tenure at GE, he led the company’s trade compliance team in Asia, in addition to overseeing the export compliance program for the GE Digital software business. Kevin is the Chair of the Board of the National Council on International Trade and Development.
